Search is on for pub 'pie champion'

The search is on to find the best pub pie in the country.

Pastry firm Jus-Rol is urging chefs around the country to send in their prized recipes for the chance to be crowned 2012 Pub Pie Champion.

The competition is part of British Pie Week, which takes place in March next year.

Chefs will be given the chance to serve their best pie recipes to pub-goers.

The winning chef will receive £500 cash, a personalised chef's jacket, a trophy and national and local media coverage.

To enter chefs need to visit www.britishpieweek.co.uk and fill in a form before January 29th 2012. The winner will be announced during British Pie Week, which runs from 5th-11th March 2012.

John McKears, foodservice sales manager from Jus-Rol, said: "The pie has always been at the heart of a great pub experience, we are encouraging pub chefs to build on the established success of pies by being more adventurous in the kitchen and thinking differently in terms of new recipes and ingredients," Eat Out Magazine reported.

"We look forward to seeing some innovative recipes that add a fresh, new dimension to the traditional art of pie making."

Craig Hennessey, who won last year's competition, will be on the judging panel for 2012's best pub pie.
