Restaurant of the Year 2011 shortlist unveiled

The Good Food Guide has revealed the ten regional winners for its Restaurant of the Year Award.
One overall winner will be crowned Restaurant of the Year on June 23rd.
More than 27,500 people voted for their favourite independent restaurants, pubs and cafes to produce the regional shortlist.
To qualify for the awards restaurants needed to be independently-run, offer regional or local produce where possible and deliver consistently great food and excellent service.
The ten regional winners are:
Wales: Cwtch, Pembrokeshire
East of England: Roger Hickman's Restaurant, Norwich
London: Retro Bistrot, Teddington
Midlands: Edmunds, Birmingham
Northern Ireland: Molly's Yard, Belfast
North-west: Spire, Liverpool
North-east: Salvo's, Leeds
Scotland: Ondine, Edinburgh
South-east: Orwells, Shiplake
South-west: The Mill Tea & Dining Room, Lyme Regis
"Championing great restaurants is at the very heart of what the Guide does - we love to celebrate excellent food and service," said Elizabeth Carter, consultant editor of The Good Food Guide.
"We are thrilled to announce such a strong field of regional winners in our Restaurant of the Year Awards, all of whom demonstrate what a flourishing culinary scene we have right across the UK."
Last year's winner was The Swan at Southrop in Gloucestershire.
