Michelin-starred meals for £1 among venues' current promotions

Hotel restaurants and pubs have been speaking about their current customer promotions, and many are choosing to reflect the upcoming government spending cuts.

Von Essen told Big Hospitality it will be offering guests who book a two-night stay at one of its hotels a Michelin-starred meal for only £1.

Running until March 31st next year, dishes on offer include a twice-baked stilton souffle and a chicken, bacon and leek risotto, created by the head chefs at Sharrow Bay in Cumbria, Ynyshir Hall in Wales, and The Samling, also in Cumbria.

An emphasis on local sourcing is evident over at the Rattlebone Inn, in Sherston, Wiltshire.

Its Game Week runs from today (November 15th) to Saturday November 20th.

Using strictly locally-sourced meat, the 16th century inn will offer eaters free range rabbit, venison and wild boar.

Elsewhere, attempts are being made to improve Anglo-American relations at Park Plaza Hotels and Resorts, Big Hospitality explains.

When US diners show their passport, or, much more preferably, sing their national anthem, the Star-Spangled Banner, as proof of identity, they will receive a 25 per cent discount on their meal.

Wonder how many will opt to sing the anthem?!
