Jay-Z and Ashley Cole to open London restaurant
Rap superstar Jay-Z and Premier League and England footballer Ashley Cole will open a new restaurant and bar in London.
The 40/40 London will open next year and is similar in philosophy to that of chef Jamie Oliver's Fifteen, which trained unemployed young people in the hospitality industry.
Jay-Z and Cole's new project will offer jobs to talented young people in long-term unemployment, and a percentage of the venue's profits will be given to local youth charities.
The location of the new venture is yet to be decided, although it is understood three sites are being considered.
Jay-Z said: "London is one of the most vibrant and exciting cities in the world and the perfect location for our new venue."
"I have grown up listening to his music and now to be doing business with him is amazing and the projects we do will be delivering much needed funds back into sport and music on a local community level as well as helping talented young people get back to work," said Cole.
The project is an expansion of Jay-Z's and business partner Juan Perez's 40/40 sports concept.
There are already 40/40 sites in New York, Atlantic City, Las Vegas, Chicago, Dallas and Atlanta, as well as venues in Tokyo and Macau.
The name refers to a baseball record set by only four players in the history of the sport, who all hit 40 home runs and stole 40 bases in a single season.
